Description
L'Espace Entre Nous (THE SPACE BETWEEN US) is an immersive scenic work where Persian music and contemporary Sufi dance converge to shape a living ritual. Led by MA Ensemble, the project explores the sensitive and invisible space that connects beings — between breath and silence, rotation and resonance.
Bridging spiritual heritage and contemporary writing, the voice (Persian Âwâz), santur, tar, double bass, and percussion weave a vibrational field that fully engages the audience. Dance becomes the gravitational center, inviting the spectator to inhabit the music rather than merely contemplate it — to enter a shared, decelerated time.

Amir Amiri & Elham Manouchehri
MA Ensemble is the collaborative project of Amir Amiri and Elham Manouchehri. The name "MA" brings together the Japanese concept of ma — the space between things — and the Persian word mâ, meaning "us," reflecting an artistic approach grounded in listening, dialogue, and shared space. Through this collaboration, the artists bring Persian musical tradition into conversation with contemporary writing, where silence, improvisation, and resonance occupy a central place.
MA Ensemble's first creative project was developed in residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in spring 2024. L'Espace Entre Nous, conceived by Amir and Elham, is MA Ensemble's second project and brings together several artists around their shared vision, continuing an exploration of connection, breath, and collective presence.
